Located next to Piazza Coragino, “Palazzo del Capitano del Popolo” is an elegant building dating from the 15th century, designed and built on the Renaissance style. It was the residence of the Captain of the Countryside, the magistrate who, in the late Middle Ages, performed important tasks alongside the magistrate for Justice, and who had executive power and judicial power over the inhabitants of the countryside.
